Housing & Land-Use Planning
Housing and land-use planning are challenging municipal areas of expertise. The issues are complex and the paths can be daunting - whether we are talking about solutions to housing problems or determining appropriate planning policies. As chair of the South East Parry Sound Planning Board (6 municipal partners) and member of council, I have developed a huge interest and thorough level of understanding.
Reducing complexities, providing transparent pathways, and providing consistency (in processes, rules and by-laws) are, I believe, the best way to deal with land-use planning. And housing, particularly attainable and affordable housing, is absolutely top of mind across the country.
As co-chair of the Almaguin Highlands Task Force and committee member for the Muskoka Almaguin Ontario Health Team "HARP" committee (Healthy Aging & Risk Prevention), I recognize that commitment and action at the municipal and district levels are critical to the citizens of Huntsville and Muskoka.
