Stewardship of our natural, beautiful surroundings is fundamental in Huntsville and Muskoka. As president of the Three Mile Lake (Armour Township) lake association for 16 years, I was keenly aware of the need to communicate and educate on the health of our lake and environment. A team of volunteers ensured we had water quality tests which spanned decades. We positioned ourselves to understand the trends and step in if needed. Our lakes across Muskoka and the watershed which surrounds us all is under intense pressure. And it will get more intense. It is absolutely critical that stewardship is part of all of our major decisions.
The natural beauty in Huntsville and across Muskoka form the foundation of our success in attracting visitors, building employment, supporting our citizens. We have a unique advantage that many areas do not have - a natural gift. We can never take this for granted.
